SLEET AND SNOW has been forecast for parts of the country today but the weather is expected to improve next week.
While rain and low temperatures are to continue into tomorrow, we can expect the mercury to rise in the coming days, according to Met Éireann.
According to the national forecaster: “Rain, sleet and snow in places this evening will die away in many places during tonight, but rain will continue to affect southern areas. It will be cold with lowest temperatures of 1 to 3 degrees and with some frost early in the night.
“But temperatures will rise a bit later and frost will clear. It will also continue rather windy with fresh to strong easterly winds.”
Temperatures should rise with lows between 5 and 8 degrees forecast for next week.
The forecaster added: “Windy tomorrow with fresh to strong easterly winds. There will be a lot of dry weather, just some outbreaks of rain in parts of the south and southwest at times and possibly the odd shower elsewhere.
“Temperatures will gradually rise during the day, reaching 7 to 10 degrees in the afternoon.”
